Meet Dr. Laura Braswell & Dr. Mark A. Barr

Dr. Laura BraswellLaura D. Braswell, D.D.S.

Laura Day Braswell, D.D.S., attended East Carolina University and graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 1982. After practicing general dentistry in Raleigh, North Carolina she joined the faculty of the Emory University School of Dentistry and completed a four-year surgical residency in Periodontology. She spent 17 years at Emory as a clinical instructor and research scientist.

Dr. Braswell has been honored with fellowship through the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. She is a diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology and a Charter member with both Master and Educator status in the American Academy of Laser Dentistry. Dr. Braswell is an Honorary Fellow of the American Veterinary Dental Society and is the Staff Dentist for Zoo Atlanta and the Georgia Aquarium.

 


Dr. Mark A. BarrMark A. Barr D.D.S.

Dr. Barr has been serving patients and rescuing teeth through specialty endodontic care for well over 30 years. He prides himself on embodying determination and always doing the right thing when it comes to his patients and the care they need, so rest assured that you are in very good hands here at Endodontics of Buckhead.

Originally from Toledo, Dr. Barr completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of Toledo and then his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. He then went into private practice for three years before serving in the US Navy Dental Corps from 1989 to 1992, acquiring the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After his time in the service, Dr. Barr went on to complete his Certificate in Endodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1994.

Dr. Barr is proud to currently hold Mastership status in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, which involves the completion of eighty or more implant cases and at least 150 hours of continuing education in dental implants. He is also an Associate Instructor in the General Practice Residency Program at Augusta Dental University.



Dr. Colin RichmanColin Richman, D.M.D.

Colin Richman DMD, has practiced periodontics and implant dentistry for the past 35 years in North Fulton County. Simultaneously, he is a visiting clinical professor in the department of Graduate Periodontics, Augusta University, Augusta, and is totally devoted to the residents and students at this institution. He subscribes to the concept that “Periodontists Save Teeth” whenever possible, and in this regard has embraced contemporary laser technology to support this approach (LANAP). He has been described as a pioneer, clinically, research and teaching of an advanced concept of periodontal augmentation therapy to facilitate orthodontic treatment, known as Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Treatment. He obtained his dental degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, his graduate periodontal training from the University of Connecticut, under the tutelage of world-renowned periodontology pioneers, Dr. Harold Loe, Dr. Paul Robertson and Dr. Kenneth Kornman. He is an honorable fellow of the Georgia Dental Association, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International and American college of dentists, and a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He has published extensively, and lectured world-wide.
